I’m a registered member of the BACP for counsellors and Psychotherapists. I work both long and short term with clients. My approach is both Integrative and Psychodynamic. I hold qualifications for both models of therapy. I’m fully bound by the ethical framework of the BACP 2018, and hold both personal and professional insurance. I conduct therapy sessions face-to-face from Apsley House, TA1 4BH, and also provide online sessions in the evenings when they are available.

About Me

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling, which has enabled me to develop and refine the skills necessary to truly support and contain my clients throughout their therapeutic journey. This qualification has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of a variety of therapeutic approaches, allowing me to tailor my methods to suit the unique needs of everyone I work with.

Following my initial training as an Integrative Therapist, I found myself sensing that there was an element missing from my practice. While undergoing psychodynamic supervision, I was particularly influenced by this perspective, which led me to seek further development in this area. As a result, I undertook foundation training in Psychodynamic Practice at ECS College in London, deepening my insight and enriching my therapeutic practice.

My own therapy journey has been nothing short of transformative. Both within the requirements that formal training requires, and within my personal life beforehand. There was a time in my life when the challenges I faced felt utterly overwhelming, so much so that it was difficult to imagine a way forward. Feelings of anxiety and uncertainty seemed insurmountable, and I often struggled to make sense of the emotional turmoil I was experiencing. It was in these moments of vulnerability that therapy became a lifeline. Being able to explore these intense emotions with someone who listened deeply and without judgment made all the difference. Through this supportive relationship, I learned to navigate difficult feelings and gradually regained a sense of control and hope. The experience of being truly heard and understood was profoundly liberating, highlighting how rare and valuable genuine listening can be in our lives.

I possess a strong aptitude for attentive listening and an acute sensitivity to the emotions of others, coupled with a deep self-awareness. It is often observed that therapists can guide clients only as far as they have explored within themselves, and this perspective has shaped my professional approach. My heightened emotional awareness guided me toward a career in therapy, where I recognise the critical value of both giving and receiving thoughtful attention. My dedication to supporting others, informed by my own therapeutic experiences. I am committed to establishing a supportive environment in which clients feel genuinely understood and empowered, reflecting the positive experiences I encountered on my own journey.

My Practice and How I Work

Navigating the wide variety of therapeutic approaches available can be challenging. Drawing from my own experiences as a therapy client, I appreciate the importance of transparency in this process. My personal journey has included both highly effective and less positive therapeutic experiences, which can understandably lead to feelings of discouragement or reluctance to seek further support. With formal training in both Integrative and Psychodynamic practices, I am able to offer a comprehensive and nuanced approach to our sessions.

The Integrative approach provides adaptable, client-centered therapy by incorporating CBT, person-centred, and relational techniques. My objective is to foster a strong, trusting, and empathetic partnership centred on your current experiences. Together, we will examine how these experiences affect you and work collaboratively to facilitate positive change and restore balance in your life. This method is often relatively brief and may be particularly effective for clients seeking a focused, solution-oriented process.

For concerns that are more deeply rooted or involve recurring patterns, I employ a Psychodynamic approach. This form of therapy seeks to explore the unconscious mind, where repressed emotions and much mental activity reside, with the goal of bringing unconscious material into conscious awareness. Suppressed feelings can manifest as anxiety or depression, sometimes without an apparent cause. Although it requires significant time and commitment, psychodynamic therapy enables clients to gain insight by uncovering hidden feelings. I encourage free association, enabling connections between early life experiences and present challenges, through a non-directive therapeutic style. This approach fosters change at the core level of personality, addressing longstanding patterns and emotional barriers. Typically, psychodynamic work extends over one to two years or longer, concluding when you feel ready to do so…

I offer both in-person sessions and online meetings via Zoom or WhatsApp, for short- and long-term needs. I’m both Integrative and Psychodynamic in modality. I’m currently available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with some evening appointments available strictly for online working.

I offer a free 30 min introductory call to discuss the possibility of working together and a brief chance to meet and talk.
